Increasing the Transmission Range

Repeater for Innovative Radio Switches

Self-sufficient switchgear devices developed by steute are now applied in many areas of control technology and building automation. The switching signal is transmitted via radio and the necessary energy is generated from the ambient surroundings according to the »energy harvesting« principle – e. g. via a miniaturised solar cell with an integrated energy supply or via an electrodynamic energy generator converting the plunger movement into electrical energy. This steute product range is continually expanding. Self-sufficient position, foot, pull-wire and door handle switches are all currently available. The extraordinarily fail-safe signal achieves a transmission range of 300 m outdoors and 30 m in closed rooms – better than that provided by comparable radio standards.

If a user requires transmission ranges which are even greater, we are well equipped to meet this challenge. At the Hannover Fair steute will be presenting a radio repeater FR 1 that receives and transmits radio signals. The core of the repeater is a transceiver unit which receives and then transmits all radio signals from self-sufficient steute switchgear. In this way the transmission range of the signals is doubled. And this is especially useful when the ambient conditions are not favourable, e. g. due to highly reflective elements (metal surfaces). The compact module works with 24 VDC supply voltage and can be integrated within existing switch cabinets by top hat rail mounting. The antenna is fixed outside the switch cabinet. The repeater does not require any separate installation measures, being simply »plug and play«. This module further increases the potential applications for self-sufficient steute switchgear.
