The new Ex command device EExF 95 RS SW from steute turns its operator into a source of energy. Inside the EExF 95 switch insert is a miniaturised electrodynamic energy generator. When the push-button is actuated it generates exactly the amount of energy necessary to transmit a radio signal.
The EExF 95 RS SW is thus independent of the power supply and can be installed without any cables. This permits universal application in potentially explosive atmospheres in gas-Ex zone 2 and dust-Ex zone 22. Variants for Ex zones 1 and 21 are in the pipeline.
While the EExF 95 RS SW is compatible with the standard fitting diameter of 22.5 mm, it also fits 30 mm and can therefore even be fitted on sliding guard doors or mobile machine components. The mounting of wired command devices would require additional components and a great deal more effort.
Although the radio signal uses only a small amount of energy, it is extremely insensitive to the interference which inevitably comes with rough industrial environments. The corresponding radio receiver can be built into a switch cabinet and is therefore space-saving. Coded signals guarantee that command device and receiver unit are clearly allocated. Furthermore the EExF 95 is available as radio position switch with different actuators.
It goes without saying that the incorporated radio technology – which has already proved itself suitable for applications in industrial and building automation – has at its disposal all the safety features essential to potentially explosive atmospheres.
